I chose the website for the
European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA): http://www.eecera.org
What are some of the current
international research topics?
I could not find any information
about the current international research topics on the EECERA website. However, I was able to see the issues that
they are addressing in their journal: European
Early Childhood Education Research Journal.
After clicking on the link for the “Back Catalogue” issues it took me to
another website: http://www.tandfonline.com/loi/recr20#.VDDQGfldVp8
Some of the issues that the journal
addressed were:
- The cycle of poverty
- Accessibility of EC programs
- Quality
- Equity
- Assessment
What surprising facts/insights/new
ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international
early childhood website?
I was surprised by the lack of
information the website. Since I am not
a member of the association, the information was very limited. Furthermore, I could not access the full text
of any of the journal articles since I am not a member.
What other noteworthy information
did you find on this website?
I thought that it was noteworthy
that the European Early Childhood Education Research Association “generates its
own revenue, receives no external funding and thus ensures its independence”
(2012).

Hi Melissa
ReplyDeleteI agree and was complete blown away to see that this organization received no external funding as thus ensures its own independence!!! WOW! This is so important because in the United States the government is constantly cutting spending to education and early childhood education, which create a never ending roller coaster ride in education. Great job!

Hi! Melissa, I also looked up at the same organization. Even though it seemed like a great international platform for research articles, as you mentioned it did not let us open more information unless we are members. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI also researched this organization and I agree that there is not much you can research unless you are a member. Being that this is a non-profit organization I was surprised at how they had certain criterias that were to meet in order for someone to become a partner.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that the EECERA doesn't receive external funding. That pretty much explains why one would have to be a member of the organization to fully benefit from their website and journal.
Hi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteI also chose this webpage and felt the same about the lack of information provided by the site. I think that organization has a great cause and I wish I was able to know more too.
Hi Melissa:
ReplyDeleteWhen I viewed the site, I was surprised as well of the lack of research. However, I found it noteworthy that their journals included some of the issues that we have looked at and will continue to look at such as: poverty, accessibility, quality, equity, and assessment.
Sincerely,
La Neisha
